Does home insurance cover instruments outside the home?

Not necessarily. Coverage generally applies strictly to the insured accommodation; damage occurring outside the home requires specific insurance. This is also the case at Assurances Étudiants by ADH, where the housing guarantee is limited to the insured property.

Should I declare a high-value instrument to my insurer?

Yes. Any instrument whose value exceeds the planned cap must be declared, with supporting documents, to guarantee full reimbursement. At Assurances Étudiants by ADH, personal property is capped at €3,500 per main room: beyond that, it is best to keep invoices and proofs of value.

Is the theft of an instrument covered?

This depends on the formula you selected: theft is not systematically included in entry-level contracts. At Assurances Étudiants by ADH, theft and vandalism inside the accommodation are covered under the Sérénité Formula, up to €800 per main room (with a €70 deductible).

Is specific insurance required for professional use?

Yes. As soon as an instrument is used for paid activities or is subject to frequent travel, a specialized "musical instrument" insurance policy is required. The Assurances Étudiants by ADH home insurance covers the instrument at home and must then be completed by a dedicated contract.
